Oma Elizabeth George left this earthly world to be with her Heavenly Father, Friday, December 16, 2011, in her home, in Pryor, Oklahoma. She was eighty-three years old. Elizabeth, known as Beigie to her family, was born on November 29, 1928 at home in Tulsa, to her parents, Oma Marguerita (Neill) Dobbins and Virgil Albert Dobbins. Elizabeth married David Allen (D.A.) George Jr. in 1947 in Wagoner, Oklahoma. D.A. and Elizabeth and three small young daughters moved to Pryor in 1954 when they purchased the John Deere Dealership where Elizabeth worked as bookkeeper and sold parts when necessary. A son was born to the couple in 1959 completing the family. She was a member of the Church of Christ for seventy-one years. Graduating with honors she received her BA in Education from Northeastern State University in 1969. In 1973 she received a Masters Degree in Library Science from the University of Oklahoma. She worked for the Pryor school system for twenty-three years; fifteen years at Whitaker Children's Home and eight at Pryor Junior High School. She enjoyed reading, painting, photography, gardening, and bird watching, and she shared her love of these activities with the people she loved the most, her family and friends. Elizabeth was a University of Oklahoma fan and collector of OU memorabilia. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in the Church of Christ with Brother Gary Risner officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Porter, Oklahoma with Delma Stafford, Charles Stafford, Freddie Vivion, Jeff Lair, J.E. Casey and Louis Ray Gabbard serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearer is John Murry. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday evening. She is survived by her daughter, Janet and son-in-law, Larry Rowland of Locust Grove, OK, daughter, Gail and son-in-law, Leo Nutter of Locust Grove, OK, daughter Lynn and son-in-law, Richard Farmer of Tulsa, OK, and son, David George and daughter-in-law, Sandy of Pryor, OK; granddaughter, Laura Kolesch and her husband, Steve of Locust Grove, OK; grandson, Brad Rowland and his wife, Tammey of Locust Grove, OK, granddaughter, Jamie Ragsdale of Pryor, OK, granddaughter, Carrie Wyckoff and her husband, George of Locust Grove, OK; grandson, Vic Nutter of Broken Arrow, OK; great grandchildren, Garrett, Nathan and Katie Koelsch, Dusty, Kodie, Jessi, Bradlee and Colt Rowland, Ashley and Caden Ragsdale, Wyatt and Jewel Wyckoff; sister, Ann Childress of Broken Arrow, OK; sister-in-law, Bess Miller and her husband, Ray of Ft. Worth, TX, sister-in-law, Faye Miller of Beaumont, TX, sister-in-law, Norma George of Porter, OK; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, David Allen George Jr.; one daughter, Donna Lee George; her mother, Oma M. Dobbins; her father, Virgil A. Dobbins; her brother, Virgil Neal Dobbins.
