Ellard Christopher Skinner, 89, of Chouteau, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was born on June 5, 1923 in Chouteau, Oklahoma, the son of John Wesley Skinner and Martha Ann (Sutt) Skinner. He faithfully served his Country in the United States Army, where he was awarded five bronze stars. Ellard later enjoyed attending his military reunions. Ellard was the oldest living member of the Chouteau First Baptist Church. He married Lila Gene Smith on June 1, 1946 in Oswego, Kansas. After her passing he later married Betty Lindgren on June 16, 1984 at Redondo Beach, California. Ellard worked for Georgia Pacific for 34 years, retiring in 1985. He was a man of faith who loved his Lord, his family and many friends. Funeral Services for Ellard will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Mazie, Oklahoma, with Reverend Wallace Broyles officiating. Interment will be in the Chouteau North Cemetery with Military Honors from the Ft. Sill Honor Team. Casket bearers are Ryan Davis, Jason Engles, Aaron Waldrup, Justin Ryals, John Sherman and Anthony Schencks. Honorary casket bearers are Alfred Hagar, Bob Thomas, Buck Nave, Gene Gage, Charles Graves and Stanley Lee. Memorials may be made to the Mazie First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 414, Chouteau, OK 74337 in his memory. He is survived by his son, Eldon Skinner and wife, Carolyn of Purdy, MO; his daughters, Glenda Skinner Ryals of Chouteau, OK , Barbara Ann Skinner Davis and husband, Coy of Pryor, OK, Susan Elaine Skinner Perryman and husband, Richard of Chouteau, OK; step-daughter, Martha Girts and husband, Dave of Seattle, WA; step-son, Tim Moore and wife, FiFi of Redondo Beach, CA; one sister, Virginia Rice of Chouteau, OK; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Skinner in 1983; his second wife, Betty Skinner, April 1996.
