Elsie Thornton

Elsie Faye Thornton, 75, of Pryor, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Tulsa. She was born on July 18, 1941 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; the daughter of George and Marie (Hutton) Welch. Elsie loved the outdoors, she loved to garden and plant flowers. She loved watching TV and one of her favorite shows was M.A.S.H.; she was a person that got such a joy out of helping people. Elsie loved her family and looked forward of spending time with them. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2017 in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Derek Melton officiating. Casket bearers will be Mark Thornton, Brett Thornton, Nicholas Thornton, Bennett Moore, Bobby Moore, Gary Thornton and Matt Thornton serving as honorary casket bearer. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Elsie is survived by her; daughter, Brenda Moore and husband Wayne of Disney, Oklahoma; sons, Lewis Thornton of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Keith Thornton and wife Jessica of Westville, Oklahoma, George Thornton of Disney, Oklahoma, Gary Thornton and wife Leslie of Pryor, Oklahoma; brother, David Welch and wife Vicki of Peggs, Oklahoma; sisters, Cathryn Lafoone and husband Frankie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mary Parker of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Marie Welch; daughters, Terry Thornton, Shirley Gillum; son, Paul Thornton and Richard Thornton; brother, Bobby Welch; sisters, Joanne Hamilton, Deanna Scroggins and Jeannie Welch.
