Evelyn James E. Gardiner, 102, of Chouteau, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in a Tulsa hospital. She was born on January 28, 1908 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the daughter of William Manthus Harl and Madelina (Bohms) Harl. She moved to Chouteau in 1968 from Tulsa. She was of the Catholic faith and attended the St. Mark's Catholic Church in Pryor. A devoted member of the Chouteau Garden Club, she won numerous awards for her flower arrangements. She enjoyed being outdoors in her garden, as well as, talking with others on the subject. She was a former Girl Scout and Brownie leader, enjoying mentoring girls to become their best. She took up oil painting after the death of her husband, winning several awards for her art. Evelyn was a wonderful seamstress. She was the world's best chauffeur, always making sure her daughter got home safely. She dearly loved her family, especially her daughter, Barbara. In the 102 years of her life, Evelyn touched so many with her caring, nurturing ways. She will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., in the St. Mark's Catholic Church in Pryor, Oklahoma. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening in the St. Mark's Catholic Church in Pryor, Oklahoma. Pall Bearers are Mr. Matthew Buckendorf, Mr. Mike Buckendorf, Mr. Jason Harvey, Mr. Billy Harl, Mr. Jeff Casillas and Dr. Steven Eddy. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum in Tulsa, Oklahoma, next to her husband, Ralph. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Fricker and her husband, James of Chouteau, OK; her sister-in-law, Helen Harl Brown of Grove, OK; her nieces, Sharon Kay Walker of Grove, OK, Evelyn Nichols, Vickie Buckendorf, Carole Sanders, and Barbara Harvey all of Tulsa, OK; her nephew, Dr. Steven Eddy of Tulsa, OK; 10 great nephews and 4 great nieces; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Madelina Harl; her husband, Ralph Waldo Gardiner; her sister, Louise Barbara Eddy; her brother, William Manthus Harl, Jr.; niece, Pat Griscom; niece, Teresa Casillas.
