Evelyn Yates

Evelyn Yates, 88, of Pryor, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at her home. She was born on March 6, 1928 in Vertress, Kentucky; the daughter of Perry Clinton and Dona (Morgan) Gray. She married Earl Yates on June 16, 1952 in Brandenburg, Kentucky and together have lived in the Pryor area since 1982, coming from Michigan. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Pryor and enjoyed attending church events, and dinners. Evelyn was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She looked forward to going to garage sales and decorating. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 17 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Junior Mullin officiating. Burial will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Trey Mullin, Raymond Chancellor, Steve Howard, Justin McCullough, Matt Yates and Chris Jones serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Earl Yates of the home; daughters, Donna Moore of Pryor, Oklahoma and Darlene Cooper of Eastpointe, Michigan; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Dona Gray; one infant son, and son, Paul Wayne; grandson, Jonathon Kenny; and her siblings.
