Frances McNair

September 15, 1932 — January 18, 2021

Frances Sue McNair, 88, of Pryor, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 at her home. She was born on September 15, 1932 in Pryor, Oklahoma; the daughter of Wallace Noel and Lois Susan (Lee) Livengood. Frances graduated in the Pryor High School Class of 1950, and shortly after went to work for a year at the Wright’s Greenhouse. In 1951, she went to work for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator. It was there, that Jack McNair heard the sound of his future wife’s voice on the telephone and knew he had to meet her. He found someone to introduce them and he waited outside Southwestern Bell to meet her. They were married on July 23, 1954 and celebrated 25 years of marriage before his passing on December 26, 1979. In 1970, Frances decided to go to work for Lincoln Elementary School as a cook and retired after 30 years, once she had gotten all of her grandchildren out of elementary school. In May 2008, she received an award from the State of Oklahoma, for being “A Very Important Member” of the Mayes County Unit of Oklahoma Retired Educators Association. She was always willing to go on a trip, whether it be on a family vacation, camping or to Branson with the girls shopping, she enjoyed getting out and enjoying life. She was a member of Life Fellowship Church in Pryor and was also a member of the Hilltoppers. She loved her church family and enjoyed attending church activities. Frances also was a great cook and was known for making the best cinnamon rolls in Mayes County. She was lovingly known as everyone’s “Mamaw” and loved to take care of all those she loved most. Frances enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and attended every activity they were involved in. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be miss by all who knew and loved her.
