Frank Powers

Frank "Myrl" Powers, Jr., 84, of Pryor, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born on September 20, 1933 in Thayer, Kansas; the son of Frank Myrl and Hazel (Berkenmeier) Powers. Myrl married Yvonne Fritz on September 5, 1952 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. He worked as a personnel manager for 17 years at Mid America Yarn Mill and was a minister as well. Myrl loved to preach God's word to anyone who would listen. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially when he was able to go fishing, and liked to make his own fishing lures. Myrl looked forward to spending time with family and cherished each moment he had with them. He was a loving husband, caring father and grandfather, and wonderful friend to many. He leaves behind many wonderful memories for all to cherish.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the Inola Christian Church with Pastor Jim Page and Pastor Steve Cable officiating. Burial will follow in the Ethel Reece Cemetery in Barnsdall, Oklahoma with Chad Martin, Chase Martin, Brent Powers, Steve Proctor, Logan Powers, and Lonny Powers serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers Lelan Powers and Loren Powers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Myrl is survived by his wife, Yvonne Powers of the home; daughters, Connie Heston of Owasso, Oklahoma and Janice Martin and husband Darrell of Inola, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hazel Powers, brother, Ron Powers; and sister, Rosella "Sue" Feher; and grandson, Shawn David Heston.
