Gary Lloyd Linton of Salina passed away Sunday, July 17 in Tulsa at the age of 72 years old. He was born January 17, 1950, in Holdenville, Oklahoma to the late Troy A. Linton and Rose Marie (Ingram) Linton. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Non, Oklahoma since birth. He graduated from Calvin High School in 1968 in Hughes County Oklahoma. He was an awesome basketball and baseball player, class president, FFA president and an overall Calvin anything fan. His mom always said he would give his last nickel to any student that asked or needed it. After high school he attended martial arts academy obtaining two black belts in Judo and Tae Kwon Do. He worked for 47 years as a commercial insulator working through the Asbestos Workers Union until starting his own company in 1996 at Mid-America Industrial Park, and eventually branching into Arkansas. He retired in 2013. He met the love of his life, Linda Lou Marlin, in November of 1994 on a blind date. He loved to recount their first meeting that she was the most beautiful thing he had ever saw, and her children scared him to death! He didn’t think he had a chance at a 2nd date. They were married in Eureka Springs on November 22, 1997. Some of his favorite things to do were work outside, attend sporting events for kids and grandkids, playing cards, dominos, and wahoo, reading history and civil war books, and was so proud of his country. He loved to take photographs, gardening, and being a self-professed expert at a lot of things without knowing much of anything.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Marlin, of the home; Daughters, Shanna Marlin of Tulsa, OK, Jamie and her husband Christopher White of Pryor, OK; two grandchildren Rainey and Nolan White; Brother Steve Linton of Ada, OK.; 2 nephews Brad and John Linton; His cousin Troy Lee Linton of Las Vegas, NV; Brother-in-law Steve Peck of Salina, OK.; sister-in-law Becky Laipple of Bixby, OK.; cousin Rick Young of Houston, TX.; special family friends Denny; Carolyn Boren of Calvin, OK.; as well as a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Troy and Rose Linton; sister-in-law Elaine Linton as well as several aunts and uncles.
