Genice Lou Honawa, 80, of Langley, passed from this life on Sunday, October 24, 2021 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was born on January 8, 1941 in Claremore, Oklahoma; the daughter of John Fixin Davis and Eliza Downing. Graduated from Jay High School in 1958. Genice married the love of her life, Milton Honawa, Sr. and they spent many years together until his passing in 2018. She was a faithful member of Ribbon Baptist Church and enjoyed being a part of her church family. Genice held multiple offices in the church, including Secretary, treasurer, and Deaconess. Genice loved getting together with her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed listening to Cherokee and gospel hymns. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, who will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Services for Genice will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Ribbon Baptist Church with Reverend Floyd Kingfisher officiating. Burial will follow at Jack Ribbon Cemetery with Gus Rhoads, Toby Rhoads, Oscar Richardson, Vinni-Cuv Martinez, Roger Bell, and Kraig Honawa serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Isaac Rhoads, Eldric Yeager, Tim Washee, and Darren Kingfisher. The Wake will start at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Genice is survived by her daughters, Eliza Honawa of Langley, La Vera Honawa of Langley, and Denise Honawa & spouse Roger Bell of Okmulgee; 15 grandchildren; Eldric, Isaac, Lina, Gus, Nikki, Erica, Crystal, Jesse, Toby, Kraig, Casey, Morgan, Jacey, Kelsi, and Oscar; 30 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Eliza; husband, Milton, Sr.; daughter, Miltona; son, Milton, Jr.; granddaughter, Jesse Kingfisher; and great-grandchildren Remington & Ruger.
