George Rex

George Emmett Rex, 89, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born on December 5, 1925 in Bixby, Oklahoma, the son of George F. Rex and Sophronia J. (Worstell) Rex. He faithfully served his Country in the United States Navy, serving as a Medic. George married Irris Parman on June 24, 1956 in the Utopia Baptist Church celebrating 58 years of marriage when she passed away in January of 2015. He worked for McDonald Douglas in Tulsa and transferred to St. Louis in February of 1957, remaining there until retiring. While in St. Louis, he spent time in Florida working on the Sky Lab. He and Irris moved back to his beloved Oklahoma in 1982. He will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel with Reverend Tobe Sperry officiating. Interment will follow in the Adair Cemetery with Albert Raleigh, Austin Raleigh, Glen Parman, Benjamin Parman, Jim Parman, Troy Parman. Honorary casket bearer is Shawn Parman. He is survived by one brother, James Rex of Yorba Linda, CA; a sister-in-law, Betty Murray of Strang, OK; brother-in-law, Ben Parman of Big Cabin, OK; many nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irris Rex; parents, George and Sophronia Rex; brothers, Seth, Albert, Evert and Ivan Rex; sisters, Winnie Johnson and Janie Jones.
