George Vann, 81, of Spavinaw, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 in Salina, Oklahoma. He was born on June 4, 1940 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma; the son of French Vann and Molly Stealer. He enjoyed reading his bible, attending various church activities, and previously served as a deacon at New Jordan Church. He loved to watch the Oklahoma City Thunder with his niece Nosh and going to the races at Salina Highbanks Speedway. He also loved to spend time with his family, tend to his house, and work in the yard. He was a blessing to all who knew and loved him and leaves behind many memories for all to cherish.
Graveside services for George will be held at Grass Cemetery on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., with DJ McCarter officiating. Casket bearers will be Victor Pickup, Angel Santiago, Devin Jumper, Mark Vann, Presley Hendricks, and Johnny Pickup. The honorary casket bearer will be John Buzzard. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 30, 2021 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. He is survived by his sons, French Vann and George Michael Vann of Salina, Oklahoma; his daughter-in-law, Verna Vann of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Sara Vann, Molly Vann, Samantha Vann, and Courtney Vann; one great grandchild, Alyssa Taylor; several great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Roseanna Vann (Thompson); parents, French and Molly; brother, Sam Vann; sisters, Dorothy Osage, Elsie McIntosh, Lila Smith, Ruby Mouse and Ella Mae Canoe; and grandson Jonathan Kelley.
