Grace

Grace Ann (Hert) Gay, 94, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in Pryor, Oklahoma. She was born on January 29, 1919 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma; the daughter of Noah and Lilly (Fry) Brannon. Grace grew up and attended school at Hogan and Pryor; she then graduated from Adair High School in 1938. She married Wayne Hert on June 14, 1938 at Jay, Oklahoma, celebrating 51 years of being together. Grace was a loving Christian lady. She worked for the junior high as assistant cook and was in charge of the nursery at First Baptist Church Pryor. Grace also worked for Beggs Pharmacy and Peter's Department Store. Her first love was her family. She was a lover of flowers, and had helped in many gardens. Grace was a member of the bridge club and a member of the Keentone Choir. Grace was a member of the WMU, and pink ladies. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and cooking. She also loved to watch OU and OSU football and basketball, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Wheel of Fortune. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., December 3, 2013 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ben Hoos officiating. Interment will be in the Adair Cemetery with Kevin Philbin, Joe Arric, Scott Horton, James Colbert, Ronnie Sharp, and Clay Rice serving as casket bearers. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Mark Haney, Kevin Haney, Rusty Haney, James Hert, Dan Hoos, David Hert, Gene Hert, Steve Brannon, and Jim Brannon. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2013 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association or Good Shepherd Hospice. Grace is survived by 1 daughter, Betty and husband Monroe Sullivan of Chouteau, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 twin daughters, Sue and Lou; one son, Anthony Hert; her first husband William Wayne Hert who preceded her in 1989, her second husband, Bradley Gay; 5 brothers, and 2 sisters.
