Guy Laverne Holden, 68, of Chouteau, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 in Arkansas. He was born on May 26, 1949 in Vinita, Oklahoma; the son of Frederick G. and Daphne (Reehling) Holden. Guy graduated from Broken Arrow High School and faithfully served his country in the United States Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era. Guy married Patsy Denny on May 23, 1969 in Pryor, and together had 2 children. He started Cadet Truck Bodies in Broken Arrow in 1972, and later moved the company to Chouteau in 1996. He enjoyed traveling, especially when he was in the Rocky Mountains and going trout fishing. He also looked forward to watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball with his dad and playing golf. Above all, Guy loved his family. He cherished each moment he had to spend with his grandchildren. Guy was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who leaves behind so many memories for all those who loved him to remember.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 28, 2017 in the Chouteau First Baptist Church in Chouteau with Reverend Cory Nicholas officiating. A private burial will take place at Bluejacket Cemetery in Bluejacket, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Chouteau Fire Department or Chouteau Police Department. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. Guy is survived by his wife, Patsy Holden of the home; son, John Robert Holden and wife Jeanie of Chouteau, Oklahoma; daughter, Patsy Laverne Holden of St. Cloud, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Audra Lynne Holden, Amy Jessica Holden, Alyssa Marie Holden, and Victoria Jo Gillooly; 1 great grandchild, Cambri Grace; father, Fred Holden of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; brothers, David G. Holden and wife Cheryl of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Jerry Holden of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; sister, Carol Hawkins of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; He is preceded in death by his mother, Daphne Holden.
