Harold Blakley

Harold Raymond Blakely was born on July 21, 1923 in Tracey, Iowa. He passed away on October 4, 2010 in the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Claremore, Ok at the age of 87 years 2 months 13 days. Harold was the son of Leroy Dorthea (Hill) Blakley. He grew up and attended school in Fulton, MO. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW II. After the war he returned to the states and was married to Viola Vaught in January of 1948 at Vienna, MO. He owned and operated Blakley Construction Real Estate Co in Mexico, MO until 1962. He then moved to Tulsa, Ok and worked as a construction Superintendant doing large projects all over N.E. Oklahoma. He then started working overseas in 1966 in Iran, Ecuador Saudi Arabia until the 1970's. Once again he returned to Tulsa and began working for the Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, and was in charge of the making of the Veterans Field of Honors and other gardens in the cemetery. He retired in the mid 1980's (briefly) he loved to travel and to dance. Harold will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for Harold will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 7, 2010 in the Woodcrest Free Will Baptist Church in Catoosa, Oklahoma with Pastor Roger Ballard officiating. Interment will be on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, Missouri with Reverend Bruce Williamson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Funeral Cremation Service. Harold leaves behind his wife Viola of Tulsa, 3-Sons; Tom Blakley wife Virginia of Tulsa, Bob Blakley wife Kay of Carthage, N.C., Freddy Blakley wife Tara of Broken Arrow, OK, 1-Daughter; Vickie Turner of North K.C. MO., 11-Grandchildren, 7-Great Grandchildren, 1-Sister; Ruby Clevenger of Fulton, MO. He was preceded in death by: 2-Brothers; Floyd Glen Blakley 2-Sisters; Gladys Hazel Blakley and his parents.
