Harold Higgs

Harold Lloyd Higgs, 85, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on March 1, 1929 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the son of James William Higgs and Robbie (Cluck) Higgs. He married Mary Ledbetter in January of 1953. In 1958 he became a police officer for the city of Pryor for the next four years. He went to work for Lone Star Cement Plant where he worked for nearly 25 years until leg problems forced his retirement. Lloyd joined the Masonic Lodge becoming a 32nd degree master mason and then a Shriner where he worked to sponsor children from this area to the Shriner's Hospitals. He was active in the local Shrine Club, participating in parades with his miniature car or dressing up as a clown. He and Mary attended the Oak Grove Mennonite Church. Lloyd had five lovely grandchildren and two great grandchildren who kept him busy, which he loved. Lloyd was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who leaves a legacy of love of God, Family and a dedication to helping others. He will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Oak Grove Mennonite Church near Adair with Brother Carl Helmuth officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Pryor with Kenny Laning, Jeff Helmuth, Chris King, Zack Laning, Jeffrey Helmuth, Jack Hale, Steven Ledbetter and Paul Miller serving as casket bearers. He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; his daughters, Hollye and husband, Kenny Laning of Pryor, OK, P.J. and husband, Jeff Helmuth of Pryor, OK; one sister, Lola Flint of Pryor, OK; grandchildren, Zack and wife, Candi Laning, Amanda Laning, Jeffrey Helmuth, Taylor Helmuth and Bailey Helmuth; great grandchildren, Jada and Starr; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Robbie Higgs; two brothers and one sister.
