Hazel Faye Rice, 81, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2011 in Pryor. Hazel was born on June 19, 1929 in Ketchum, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Coverdell and Nancy A. (Williamson) Coverdell. She married Charles Rice in October of 1951. She worked as a CNA, working for hospitals and local nursing home. Hazel enjoyed working in the home health fields. After her retirement she enjoyed crocheting and reading. Hazel attended the Brushy Creek Baptist Church. She also enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. Hazel loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services for Hazel will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Brandon Rice, Terry Stimpson, Jay Stimpson, Toby Daniels and Chance Hayes serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are H. D. She is survived by her two sons, Jerry Stimpson and wife, Diana of Boatman, OK and Ray Rice and wife, Jake of Shawnee, KS; her daughters, Charlene Nielsen of Lavern, OK and Carldean York and husband, Wayne of Pryor, OK; her sisters, Lucille Cordery and husband, Dencil of Pryor, OK and Mary Rice and husband, James of Locust Grove, OK; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rice in 2004; 1 grandson, Jackie Rice; 1 great grandson, Vincent Tyler Rice; 2 brothers, Willie Coverdell and George Satterwhite; 3 sisters, Minnie Layton, Bessie Layton and Georgia Jacobs.
