Hazel Timmons

Hazel Lilas Timmons, 94, of Salina, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 in Salina, Oklahoma. She was born on February 19, 1920 in Salina, Oklahoma; the daughter of Normal E. and Cora (Perkins) Mitchell. Hazel married Roy Timmons on July 25, 1936 and was married for 61 years, until his passing in 1997. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Pryor. She loved attending church services and revivals and listening to gospel music. She was a great seamstress and loved to sew. Hazel was also a fantastic cook and was known for her pies. Most of all, Hazel dearly loved her family and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was like a second mother to her daughters in law, treating them like her own. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2015 in the First Free Will Baptist Church with Brother Glenn Lewis and Brother Ray Gwartney officiating. Burial will follow in the Bryan Chapel Cemetery with Kendall Timmons, Darrell Timmons, Andy Atchley, Dustin Atchley, Bryan Timmons, and Michael Mitchell serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Daniel Mitchell and Jay Wolfkill. Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 25, 2015 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Hazel is survived by her son; Gary and wife Joni Timmons of Disney, Oklahoma; daughter, Sharon and husband Jim Wolfkill of Whitney, Texas; sister in law, Carolyn Timmons of Locust Grove, OK; sister, Ruby Mitchell of Ontario, Oregon; 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Timmons; 1 daughter, Debbie Mitchell, 2 sons, Roy Duane Timmons and Kenneth Timmons; 1 granddaughter, Ronna Jo Atchley; 2 brothers, 3 sisters.
