Funeral services for H.E. "Junior" Swearengin, 95, of Pryor, will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m, in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Bryan Chapel Cemetery in Boatman, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Funeral & Cremation Service. Mr. Swearengin was born on September 19, 1920 in Boatman, Oklahoma. He died on January 5, 2016 in Inola, Oklahoma. The son of James Pleasant "Ped" Swearengin and Laura Evalyne (Pruett) Swearengin. He was married to Evelyn Miller on December 24, 1941 in Salina, Oklahoma. He was employed at the Dupont Powder Plant. Then early in 1944; he and Evelyn moved to Oregon and he became a master welder for Swan Island Shipyard. After the war, Junior worked in construction. In 1954, Junior was employed by Certain - Teed Papermill, which later became Georgia Pacific, where he retired in 1985 after 31 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pryor. He thoroughly enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels and visiting with the shut-ins. Survivors include; his wife, Evelyn of the home, 2 daughters, Carol Davis and husband Les of Pryor, Oklahoma and Sharon Merriman of Pryor, Oklahoma; 2 grandsons, Todd Morris and wife Jeanie of Pryor and Matthew Merriman of Springfield, Missouri; 1 great granddaughter, Janet "JaeJae" Morris of Pryor, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Mary Whiteis of Salina, Oklahoma and Laura Hendricks of Lincoln, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Glen Merriman; 3 brothers, James, Joe and John Swearengin; and 2 sisters, Rosa Jamison and Marjorie Schroeder and his parents. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, January 7, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor.
