Helen Grace (Newcomb) Crawford, 86, of Pryor, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021 in Salina. She was born on October 27, 1934 in Ringling, Oklahoma; the daughter of Chester Edward Newcomb and Beulah (Musgraves) Newcomb. She was a Pryor High School graduate in the Class of 1953. Helen married the love of her life, Jack Crawford, on July 29, 1955 in Joplin and celebrated 49 years of marriage until his passing in 2005. She has lived in the Mayes County area all of her life, and taught third grade and was a counselor for Salina Public schools for 24 years. Helen enjoyed her church family and looked forward to attending services at the North Elliott Church of God. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, camping, quilting and family trips once a year to Colorado. Helen loved to spend time with family and sitting on her porch drinking coffee. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing and play the piano. Helen was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend and leaves behind many memories for her family to cherish.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in the North Elliott Church of God with Reverend Robert Killman and Reverend Ken Angel officiating. Burial will follow in the Ross – Mayes Cemetery with Steve Crawford, Dick Crawford, Tony Crawford, Dirk Cooksey, Nate Pierce, and Clay Rice serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor. Helen is survived by her daughter, Sheree Crawford of Las Vegas, Nevada; 2 grandchildren, Michael Pierce and wife Kelly of Pryor, Oklahoma and Josh Pierce and wife Sarah of Pryor, Oklahoma; 3 great grandchildren, Nate Pierce of Pryor, Oklahoma, Brock Morton of Pryor, Oklahoma and Rylynn Pierce of Pryor, Oklahoma; brother, Harold Newcomb and wife Linda of Pryor, Oklahoma; sister, Alene Nance of Kellyville, Oklahoma; her dog, Frosty; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Beulah Newcomb; husband, Jack Crawford; daughter, Terry Crawford; siblings, Charles Newcomb, David Newcomb, Elbert Newcomb, and Fern Lawrence.
