Henrietta Head

October 10, 1928 — April 22, 2025

Pryor

Henrietta Head, 96, of Pryor, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. She was born on October 10, 1928, in Porter, Oklahoma, to John Henry and Myrtle Mamie (Denison) Ledbetter. In 1945, during her senior year of high school, Henrietta moved to Pryor, where she graduated from Pryor High School in 1946—and where she would build a lifetime of love, service, and cherished memories. The night of her high school graduation, she met the love of her life, G.B. Head. The two were married on June 28, 1947, and shared 41 years together before his passing in 1988. Henrietta had a heart for helping others. In 1977, she returned to school at the Vo-Tech center between Pryor and Claremore, earning her Licensed Practical Nurse certification in 1978. She went on to work for 18 years at Mayes County Medical Center and continued volunteering there after her retirement. A faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church since accepting Christ as her Savior in April 1954, Henrietta's life was marked by devotion—to her Lord, her family, and her community. She rarely missed a school or sporting event for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Her presence, cheering from the stands or celebrating milestones, was a steady source of love and pride for her family. Henrietta found joy in life’s simple pleasures—traveling, shopping, playing games with friends, and hitting the greens with the Pryor Women’s Golf Association. Her home was a gathering place, especially during the holidays, where laughter and love filled every room. Henrietta’s legacy is one of faith, family, and deep-rooted love. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her four sons, Gene Head and wife Joanie, Allen Head and wife Karla, Ben Head and wife Leslie, and Mike Head all of Pryor, Oklahoma; also, a special niece, Ann Hopkins, who was like a daughter to her. She had 11 grandchildren, 17 great - grandchildren, 3 great - great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Myrtle Ledbetter, husband, G.B. Head, daughter - in - law, Katie Head, grandson, Brad Head, sisters, Ruby Fisher and Jane Jones; brothers, B.W. Ledbetter, Kenneth Ledbetter, Harlie Weldon and Walter Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2025, at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Reverend Jerold Pilant and Reverend Andy Pilant officiating.
