Herman Hammock

Herman Archie Hammock, 75, of Inola, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was born on August 27, 1941 in Porum, Oklahoma; the son of Herman and Bertha Mae (Stephens) Hammock. Herman faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force from July 29, 1960 until April 30, 1964. On November 15, 1969, he married the love of his life, Mary Beth Grubbs in Stigler, Oklahoma. Herman was a family man, through and through; he worked hard for his family at Centerline and retired after 35 years. He looked forward to spending time with his kids and grandkids any chance he got. He was also a big prankster with his family. He loved his pets, cars, and planes and was a huge football fan; he loved rooting for his teams, OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chouteau and looked forward to attending services and church events. Herman will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2017 in the First Baptist Church in Chouteau with Reverend Robert "Bobby" Pineiro officiating. Burial will follow in the Fort Gibson Cemetery with Mike Hammock, Lynn Hershberger, Zack Hammock, Logan Hammock, Austin Hershberger and Danny Walker serving as casket bearers. Honorary Casket bearer will be Garrett Grossman. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Herman is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Hammock of the home; son, Mike Hammock and wife Stephanie of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughter, Cathy Hershberger and husband Lynn of Chouteau, Oklahoma; brothers, Joe Hammock and wife Linda of Verdigris, Oklahoma, Ricky Hammock and wife Julie of Muskogee, Oklahoma; sisters, Shirley Cordle of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Karen Monks and husband Bruce of Stigler, Oklahoma; brother n law, Fred Russell of Inola, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Bertha Hammock; sisters, Janie Hammock and Doris Russell; and brother in law, Glen Cordle.
