Homer King, 73, of Kenwood, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He was born on February 21, 1947 in Kenwood, Oklahoma; the son of Jack and Francis King. Homer was born and raised in Kenwood. He joined the Army in 1967 and faithfully served in the Vietnam War. He loved his country and was very proud of his time served. Homer was a pastor for the Indian Baptist Association and pastored many churches over the years. Family was always top priority to Homer; he would do anything and everything for his family. He was a good-hearted, kind, jokester who never met a stranger. Homer was a loving father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m, Wednesday, March 18, 2020 in the Euwasha Cemetery with Pastor Wendell Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Euwasha Cemetery with Brad Cooper, Bradley Cooper, James Hinkle, Roger Johnson, and Cordell Smith serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Homer is survived by his sons, Michael King and wife Denice of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Alan King of Pawnee, Oklahoma, and Joel King of Kenwood, Oklahoma; brothers, Jimmy King of Kenwood, Oklahoma, Irvin King and wife Dusty of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; sisters, Linda Kay Cooper and husband Brad of Kenwood, Oklahoma, Barbra Hinckle and husband James of Ketchum, Oklahoma; one grandchild, 3 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Francis King, son, Homer Jr. King, 2 sisters, Sue and Cookie, and brothers, Charles and Leo King.
