Irene Brandon, 90, of Pryor, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019 at her home in Pryor. She was born on December 1, 1928 in Jay, Oklahoma; the daughter of Thomas and Kate (Bishop) Pritchett. Irene and her family moved to Salina in 8th grade, graduating in 1947. Shortly after graduation she married JR Conner. After the death of Vontrice Brandon, Irene met and fell in love with Bob. On December 25, 1966, they were married and blended their families, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2016. Irene worked as a homemaker most of her life, mastering her skills as a wonderful pie maker and making homemade noodles. She also worked several years at Western Auto in Pryor. In her younger years, she enjoyed being out on the lake going water skiing. She attended and was a member of the First Church of God in Pryor for over 70 years and looked forward to being involved in the activities there. Irene was a wonderful mother, wife, and grandmother. She was humble and loved doing for others, always making sure everyone was well taken care of. She leaves behind many memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019 in the First Church of God in Pryor with Reverend Andrew Rehbein officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery with Travis Conner, Chase Conner, Greg Brandon, Robert Schooley, D.J. Cagle, and Brennan Stuber serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Irene is survived by her husband, Bob Brandon of the home; sons, Don Conner and Donna Chain of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Richard Brandon and wife Susan of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Jimmy Brandon and wife Beverly of Portland, Oregon; daughter, Cheryl Hawks and husband Keith of Pryor, Oklahoma; sister, Eula Gage and husband Gene of Pryor, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Kate Pritchett; son, Ronnie Brandon; 2 brothers, Leon and Gene Pritchett.
