J. West

December 3, 1944 — August 18, 2016

J. "Vesta" West, 71 of Pryor passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on December 3, 1944 in Tiawah, Oklahoma; the daughter of Virgil and Florence (Woods) Thompson. On March 15, 1963 at the age of 18, Vesta married Coy West in Westville. They just celebrated 53 years of marriage. Vesta worked as a homemaker all of her life, enjoying the time she was able to spend with her husband and raising her four children, which she has a special bond with each of them. One of her greatest times in her life was in her thirties she finally decided to get her driver's license when it was time to start taking her youngest to school. The love that Vesta had for her entire family is an understatement, and when she became a grandparent the love just spread more and more. She enjoyed attending church and was a faithful member of the Parkview Missionary Baptist church in Chouteau, Oklahoma. Her church family brought a great amount of joy in her life just as she did for her church family, if anyone needed prayer, they knew they could call Vesta because she was a prayer warrior and lady of faith; she was always there with open arms and a smile that would light up a room. She loved to volunteer, whether it was at church of for an organization such as; Va center in Claremore, blood mobile, election board and anywhere else that she could. She would spend hours painting, crocheting and working with ceramics, which she would get awards for, there wasn't a craft she couldn't do. Memorial services for Vesta will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2016 at Parkview Missionary Baptist Church in Chouteau.
