Jack Bennett Obituary (2024) - Pryor, Oklahoma (gather.app)

Jack Roy Bennett, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, born on January 10, 1940, in Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in Pryor, Oklahoma after 84 incredible years. He is remembered as a devoted family man and a respected member of the iron worker industry, where he made significant contributions throughout his life. Jack began his professional journey in 1956, embarking on a lifelong career in the iron working industry. His dedication and hard work led him to work for esteemed companies such as Braden Steel and Bailey Steel. He was known for his adventurous spirit, traveling across the country to work on furnaces. Later, Jack’s nephew, Dave, started Bennett Steel Inc., where Jack joined the company and continued to serve until his retirement, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and commitment. In addition to his professional achievements, Jack’s life was rich with personal passions, most important being the love he had for his family. On July 15, 1960, he married the love of his life, Mary Catherine Morrison and together they raised a family that cherished the values he and Cathy instilled in them. Known for his love of sports, Jack devoted a significant part of his life to coaching. He began coaching baseball in the Turley area when his nephew, Dave, was just eight years old. This passion led him to be involved in the Northwest Quarterback Club, and then ultimately coaching wrestling in the Locust Grove area for 15 years. His unwavering support and love for his children and grandchildren was widely known as he spent all his free time coaching, specifically coaching his grandsons in baseball and wrestling for many years. His support for Salina sports was a testament of his commitment and dedication to those he loved most and to the sports community. He was an avid fan of the University of Oklahoma, Sooner born and Sooner bred. Jack enjoyed the simpler pleasures in life, often found fishing with his loving wife, Cathy, boating, and taking his children on the water during their formative years. He was deeply proud of his family, which included grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought him immense joy. His legacy of hard work, dedication to his family, and his love for sports will continue to inspire those who carry his memory forward.
