James Stephen Campbell, 61, of Big Cabin (formerly of Neosho), passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was born on December 26, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma; the son of John William and Virginia (Whisler) Campbell. James graduated from Neosho High School and went on to faithfully serve his country in the United States Marines. James came to Oklahoma 10 years ago, coming from Anderson, Missouri and started attending church at the Big Cabin Baptist Church. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar. James also enjoyed plants. He would transplant baby trees around his house in the woods. He looked forward to watching the St. Louis Cardinals play and would cheer them on anytime they were playing. Most of all, James loved his family and really enjoyed giving his nieces and nephews a hard time; they called him their ‘crazy Uncle Jim." He leaves behind many memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the Emmanuel Church in Vinita, Oklahoma with Pastor Tim Lunk officiating. He is survived by his mother, Virginia Campbell of Pryor, Oklahoma; his brother, Charles Robert Campbell and wife Stacie of Noel, Missouri; sisters, Patricia Standefer and husband Charles of Pryor, Oklahoma and Kara Sholes and husband Larry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, John William Campbell; brother, John William Campbell, Jr. and sister Cathy Campbell.
