James Collins

James Norman Collins, 85, of Eufaula, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Cornerstone Hospital in Muskogee. He was born on December 1, 1930 in Muskogee; the son of Haze and Georgia (Rice) Collins. James proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 - 1955, as well as serving in the National Guard. He married Lula Mae Moore on May 7, 1954 in Sallisaw Ok. James enjoyed dancing and being a mechanic. He looked forward to going fishing, especially with his buddy, Larry Henson. He enjoyed any time he could tinker on anything mechanical. James retired from Ralston Purina in 1994 after many years. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2016 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Military Honors. Casket bearers will be Scott Collins, Keith Brandon, David Walls Jr., J.B. Hurd, Jeff Beck and Kyle Catt. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in the Shipman's Chapel. James is survived by his wife, Lula Mae Collins of the home; sons, Curtis and Pam Collins of Pryor, Ok., Vernon and Laura Collins of Canadian, Ok.; daughters, Dianna Collins of Wynona, Ok, Linda and Sid Brandon of Pryor, Ok., Sharon Walls of Eufaula, Ok., and Teresa Stites of Wynona, Ok; brother, David and Teresa Hefner of Wagoner, Ok.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grand daughter. He is preceded in death by his father Haze Collins and mother Georgia Collins; sister, Norma Jean Grimes; brother, Jerry Hill; grandson, Michael Todd Collins.
