James Elmore

James Earl Elmore, 69, of Pryor, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at his home in Pryor. He was born on August 3, 1944 in Honey Grove, Texas; the son of James and Betty (Corn) Elmore. James married Sharlene Smith on April 16, 1965 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage next year. James enjoyed surfing and being outdoors. He also had a talent for drawing and drew pictures for Walt Disney. James enjoyed drag racing and working on cars. He drove trucks most of his life for National Carrier. Most of all, James loved his family and cherished each moment he had to spend with them. He will be remembered by all the memories he leaves behind and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. James is survived by his wife, Sharlene Elmore of the home; his son, James Elmore, Jr. of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughter, Melinda Ferguson and husband Robert of Pryor, Oklahoma; brother, Charles Meek and wife Marty of Arizona; 5 grandchildren, Brandon Nichols, Charity Ferguson, Jessika Ferguson, Savanna Ferguson, and Charlie Ferguson; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Elmore, and his sisters, Vera Mae Patrick and Mary Frances Moore.
