James Hawkes

James Wesley Hawkes, 85, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was born on December 6, 1930 in Blue, Oklahoma, the son of Louis Hawkes and Lucille (Corley) Hawkes. James faithfully served his country in the United States Navy, serving from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict. He married Barbara Stirling on May 28, 1951 in Socorro, New Mexico. James was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge #100 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He enjoyed spending time in New Mexico with its green chili and beautiful mountains. James loved his grandchildren and all the time he was able to spend with each one. A loving husband, father and grandfather whose love of God, Family and Country will be cherished in memories for each to cherish. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Tres Hawkes, Chad Hawkes, Cayde Hawkes, Austin Roberts, Cory Rogers and Kevin Wheeler serving as casket bearers. He is survived by his son, Skie and wife, Vickie Hawkes of Pryor, OK; his grandchildren, Tres Hawkes, Chad and wife, Chasma Hawkes, Toni and husband, Austin Roberts, Barbara and Mathew Heathcock; great grandchildren, Ashley Hawkes, Caitlynn and Payton Heathcock, Cayde and Camree Hawkes, Ty Heist; brother-in-law, Gordon and Margaret Stirling of CA; Nieces, Lynn Pence and husband, Ray of IL, Kelly Stirling of CA; Nephews, Blaine Gerard of Las Vegas, NV, Blake Gerard and Sonja of Socorro, NM; Cecil White of CA, Stirling White of OR, Gordon and wife, Connie Stirling of MO; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lucille Hawkes; wife, Barbara Hawkes; brothers, Kenneth and Bobby Jack Hawkes.
