James Holder

James Lee "Jim" Holder, 79, of Pryor, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014 at his home in Pryor. He was born on January 21, 1935 in Bolivar, Texas; the son of Rufus and Cora Mae (Strange) Holder. He grew up in Texas and later moved to Oklahoma. Jim married Norma Moore on February 14, 1975. They had their 39th wedding anniversary this year. Jim worked for several different trucking companies as an over the road truck driver. He also had owned his own tire shop, grocery store, and feed store through the years. Jim had a passion for Shoes for Kids program. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason. Jim loved playing golf and bowling until his health wouldn't allow it anymore. He loved spending time with family and friends and listening to gospel music. Jim was a man that could have a conversation with anyone. He always had a story to tell. Throughout the years, he has made many friends, young and old. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2014 in the Highland Cemetery in Inola, Oklahoma with Reverend Thomas Ballard officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2014 in the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel. Jim is survived by his wife, Norma of the home; 2 sons, Lee and wife Shawna Holder of Texas and James and wife Donna Holder of Texas; 1 daughter, Nelda Keith of Texas; 1 step-son, Robert Smith and wife, Debbie of Pryor, OK; 1 brother, Robert and wife Ellen Holder of Valley View, Texas; 1 sister, Macy and husband Ervin Howerton of White Horn Cove, Wagoner, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Cora Mae Holder and his brother, Raymond Holder.
