James Martin

James Boyd Martin, 74, of Chouteau, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born on March 12, 1937 at Warner, Oklahoma, the son of Jess and Florence (Cooper) Martin. James grew up in Porter, Oklahoma, moving to California in 1956 to work for General Motors Corporation and moved back to Oklahoma in 1969. James married Elizabeth Morris on December 14, 1957 in Van Nuys, California. He was a great husband and father. He enjoyed working on cars, woodworking, and making furniture. He enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing and playing golf. He also loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. James was a fan of Nascar, especially Dale Earnhart. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Your Place Church, Pryor, Oklahoma with Reverend Loren Beck officiating. Casketbearers will include, Brian Doyle, Joshua Martin, Matthew Martin, Logan Hathcoat, Mike Peace and Ryan Peace. Honorary Casketbearers will include Jack Cieloha, Kenneth Linzy, Shoat Buster, and Alvin Linzy, Interment will follow in the Chouteau North Cemetery, Chouteau, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2011. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth J. Martin; 2 sons, David Wayne and his wife Veronica Martin of Chouteau,OK, Donald James Martin of Chouteau, OK; 1 daughter, Sarah Beth and her husband Timmy Goins of Salina; 2 brothers, Larry Martin of Tahlequah, OK, and Eddie Martin of Ft. Gibson, OK; 1 sister, Ruth Stevens of Lost City, OK; 5 grandsons, Brian, Joshua, Matthew, Ryan, Logan; 2 great granddaughters, Abby and Zoe; 1 great grandson, Trevor; 1 step-granddaughter, Daysha; James was preceded in death by 1 daughter; Amy Jane Martin Doyle, 1 brother, Paul Martin, 1 sister, Lullabelle Allen.
