James Ray Mote, 91, of Pryor, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at his home. He was born on July 5, 1931 in Boynton, Oklahoma; the son of Buster and Maggie (Wolfinger) Mote. James was married to Ona Nadine Walker in Muskogee County from December 24, 1949 to February of 1982. James worked most of his life in the trucking industry, earning an award for over 3.5 million safe miles. One of his greatest accomplishments was building his log home, even though it took him 3 plus years to do it. He enjoyed going fishing, water skiing and spending time at the lake. He loved RVing and traveling, but his favorite place to camp was at Blue Bill Point. James was a true patriot and loved anything red, white and blue, and oftentimes would paint things to match those colors. He was an OU Fan, John Wayne fan, and he truly enjoyed bluegrass festivals. James loved to make his rounds around Pryor, usually starting at Thomas Restaurant, and then going to the donut shop. He spent time at the CARD senior center and always enjoyed the company of those that would attend at the center. James looked forward to a good dominoes game and visiting with his friends and family. He leaves behind many memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
