Jean Moorhead, 86, of Afton, passed from this life on Saturday, December 17, 2022, in Vinita, Oklahoma. Born on June 8, 1936, in Cherokee City, Oklahoma, Jean was the daughter of James Riley Mullin, Sr. and Lucy Pauline (Clary) Mullin. On November 26, 1955, Jean married James Harvey Moorhead, also known as Jimmy Moorhead. They spent 63 wonderful years together until his passing on December 7, 2018. Jean held many jobs throughout her lifetime but always tended to her home and family to ensure they were taken care of. Adored her family, Jean took every opportunity to spend time with them and enjoyed taking care of all the kids and grandkids. She also loved to sew, can, and cook, and was well known for her hot rolls. As a very involved member of the Assembly of God Church in Vinita, Jean loved all the time she spent there. She leaves behind many memories for her family to cherish and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023, in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Trae Mullin and Reverend Antonio Alberti officiating. Burial will follow in the McLaughlin Cemetery in Cleora with Brandon Moorhead, Joe Moorhead, Austin Snodderly, Rocky Alberti, and Chase Moorhead serving as urn bearers. Honorary urn bearers will be Rhett Moorhead, Lincoln Riley Moorhead, Ripken Dean Moorhead, Keyton Moorhead, Logan Moorhead, and Bentley Moorhead. She is survived by her sons, James Harvey Moorhead, Jr. of Howe, Oklahoma, Wayne Moorhead and wife Cassandra of Vinita, William Joe Moorhead and wife, Tonya of Cleora, Oklahoma, and Leonard Moorhead and wife Brenda of Pryor; daughter, Sue Alberti of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Brenda Clark of Springfield, Missouri; sisters, Judy Summerfield of Pryor, Mary Stelle of Pryor, Bonnie Huerta of Las Vegas, and Berta June Black of Pryor; brothers, Billy Mullin of Springfield, Missouri, Jack Mullin of Woodstock, Connecticut, James Riley Mullin, Jr. (JR), of Pryor, and Joe Bob Mullin of Adair; 17 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Riley Mullin, Sr. and Lucy Pauline Mullin; husband, Jimmy Moorhead; sisters, Lilly Mullin and JoAnn Black; and brothers, Jimmie Mullin, Jerry Mullin, and Jerald Lee Mullin.
