Jim Bruton

James Victor Bruton, 78, of Tulsa, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on October 30, 1937 in Gentry, Arkansas. James faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the United States Postal Service, where he worked as a mail carrier for many years. James loved the outdoors and enjoyed watching birds and fishing. He also loved to take his children and grandchildren fishing with him. James always looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren, picking them up and helping them any way he could. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 11 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. James is survived by his wife, Janice Bruton of the home; sons, Bobby Bruton of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Joe Reed of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Johnny Reed of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughters, Geneva Bruton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mia Peters of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Renea Reed of Langley, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Catherine Bruton.
