John Vernon Miller, 89, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born on August 6, 1929 in Pryor, Oklahoma, the second of three sons born to Claude E. and Avo (Stricklen) Miller. John graduated from Pryor High School in 1947. John then went on to serve his Country in the United States Air Force as Staff Sargent, during the Korean Conflict from 1948 until 1953. He married Helen Vonda (Thompson) Miller on August 20, 1980 in Miami, Oklahoma. He worked as a purchasing agent for John Deere Chemical Plant and NIPAK Inc from 1954 until 1978. He was then employed at OOWA for 10 years retiring in May of 1989. When they were able, he and Helen attended the North Elliott Church of God. John leaves behind many wonderful memories for his family to cherish.
Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Anna Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow. He is survived by his wife, Helen of the home; first wife, Betty L. Miller of Pryor, OK; his son, Barry and wife, Tammy Miller of Pryor, OK; four grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Avo Miller; step daughter, Peggy Weaver Webster; step son, Jeff Weaver; brothers, Jim Miller and Claude Miller Jr.
