John D. Simmons, 87, of Tulsa and formerly of the Adair area passed away on April 7, 2011 in Tulsa. The son of Walter Mac Cload Simmons Bertha (Holt) Simmons, John graduated from Adair High School, and then was drafted into the U.S. Army Company L 31st. Infantry, during WW II serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, Southern Philippines. After the war he returned to Oklahoma and was married to Ruth Evelyn Most in 1947 in Pryor. John was employed by McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa as a Tooling Specialist retiring in 1983. John loved crappie fishing and buying selling Classic Pickups and was a member of the Baptist Faith. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 9, 2011 in the Ghormley Cemetery at Pensacola, Oklahoma with Reverend Jerold Pilant officiating. John is survived by his children Danny Simmons wife Ann of Tulsa, OK, Ronnie Simmons wife Shirlene of Tulsa, OK, Peggy Simmons-Rice of Beggs, OK; 4-Grandchildren; 10-great Grandchildren; 1-Sister Mable Wilmouth of Spiro, OK. He was preceded in death by; his wife Ruth on Aug. 9, 2002; 1-Son-In-Law, Carl Rice in 2009; 2-Brothers, Leroy D. Simmons Walter Simmons; 2-Sisters, Eunice Kay Letha Mae Huggins; and his parents, Walter and Bertha Simmons.
