John Ward

John William Ward, 93, of Salina, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 in Salina. He was born on April 1, 1927 in Owasso, Oklahoma; the son of Willis and Eunice (Rockwell) Ward. John married Mattie Elizabeth Anderson on July 13, 1948, and they celebrated 68 years of marriage before her passing in 2014. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially when he was able to go fishing, gardening, and squirrel hunting. John loved to play checkers and rarely lost a game against his family. John enjoyed visiting with his family and friends and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves behind many memories for his family to remember.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in the Ross – Mayes Cemetery in Salina. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. John is survived by his sons, Kenneth and wife Jolene, Lloyd, Clifford and Wilbur; daughters, Shirley, Betty, Mary, Tina, Jamie, and Shonda; sister, Wanda Rogers; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Eunice Ward; wife, Mattie Anderson; son, James Ward; 2 sisters, and 3 brothers.
