Johnessa Michelle Pickup, 26, of Kenwood, Oklahoma, graduated to the next level of life on Sunday, September 1, 2024. “Ness” was a loving mother of three boys, Lyriq Lavelle Budder, Levy Ray Pickup, and Layton Toolate Hogshooter of Jay, Oklahoma. Her boys were the light of her life, and she cherished any time she got to spend with them, caring and cooking for them, talking to them on the phone, or taking them to the creek or the movies. The boys were her world.
She was one of a kind, with a heart of gold. She is greatly missed by the father of her boys, Michael Budder of Kenwood, who she spent the majority of her last years with here on earth. They enjoyed making tracks at home in the studio. She would randomly make trips to her hometown of Locust Grove to check on her family and spend time with them. Talking with her dad, Johnny Pickup or staying the night with her sister “Randa” and only nephew, Zaylen Bluebird who she affectionately called “Chooge.”
She enjoyed family time playing cornhole with her bub and family or just playing with her little sister Maleah making slime or playing with Barbies on the floor. She was a counselor to her siblings who adored her and were proud to call her their “Big Sissy.” She was a member of Wellbriety and enjoyed going to meetings with her mom Nudge, and Seth. She loved going to the creek to look for arrowheads or make her rounds at Kenwood to visit numerous friends. Her laugh and sense of humor were unforgettable. She would light up any room she entered. She was a true social butterfly and made a connection with everyone she met. She kept it 1,000%. She had a saying “You keep it 100, I keep it 1,000.” She was a natural leader and did not hesitate to stand up for what she believed in and never let anyone feel left out. She regularly spent time reading her bible and talking with Jesus. She always kept a positive outlook, no matter the situation, and always made time for others if you needed to talk or even children who wanted to play. She’d drop what she was doing and be present with them. She had a special bond with her cousins Shandah and Taylor. She had gained employment at GXO as a logistics associate and was attending classes.
She is survived by her dad Johnny Pickup of Locust Grove, OK; mom, Vanessa Blossom and Seth Starr of Kansas, OK; brothers, Victor Pickup and Brandon Wilson; sisters, Maleah Pickup and Miranda Blossom; uncles, William and Matt Backwater; grandma, Mary Mouse; aunts, Christina Jumper of Kenwood, and Charlotte Pickup of TX; and numerous cousins, aunts, and other family. She went on to heaven to be with her maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Mable Backwater; grandpa, John Pickup Sr.; great grandma, Ruby Mouse; uncle, Jeremy Pickup; and aunt, Misha Downing.
