Johnny Wagnon, 66, of Spavinaw, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at his home. He was born on November 17, 1953 in Claremore, Oklahoma; the son of Jack and Betty (Thompson) Wagnon. He married Janie Six on August 28, 1981 in Disney, Oklahoma. Johnny had a great sense of humor and always had a funny “dad joke” to tell. He was quick-witted and always had a smile on his face. He loved to work on cars, go fishing, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Johnny was a member of the Round Springs Baptist Church and was also an ordained deacon. He was a Santa Claus for the Cherokee Gourd Society for 15 years; he thoroughly enjoyed being Santa for all those years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be so dearly missed.
Services for Johnny will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Ribbon Baptist Church in Spavinaw with Reverend Richard “Guy” Soldier officiating. Burial will follow in the Round Springs Cemetery with Leonard Blossom, Brandon Squirrel, Alan Haley, Lucas Wagnon, Cuco Wagnon, and Jack Wagnon serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Shawn Wagnon, Tommy Jack Wagnon, John Albert Wagnon, Garrett Wagnon, Tommy Joe Scott and Tommy Wolfe. Johnny is survived by his wife, Janie Wagnon of the home; children, Shawn Wagnon and wife Christi of Grove, Oklahoma, Tommy Wagnon and wife Jennifer of Texas, John Wagnon and wife Jessica of Miami, Oklahoma, Garrett Wagnon and wife Stephanie of Spavinaw, Oklahoma, April Wagnon-Wolfe and husband Tommy of Salina, Oklahoma, and Mary Scott and husband Tommy Joe of Salina, Oklahoma; brother, James Wagnon of Muskogee, Oklahoma; sisters, Ella Thompson of Salina, Nellie Troutman and husband Clay of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Sherry Haley of Salina, Oklahoma, Terri Arthurs and husband Doug of Pryor, Oklahoma, Peggy Rock of Salina, Oklahoma, Lucinda Maquenda and husband Eleazar of Stillwell, Oklahoma, and Anna Lee Scott and husband Jimmy of Atoka, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren, 6 six great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
