Joseph Charles (J.C.) Johnson, 80, of Strang, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at his home in Strang. J.C. was born on September 21, 1929 in Mesa, Arizona, the son of Joe and Opal Johnson. J. C. served in the United States Army, stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, serving two years. He then worked as a lineman for the next 23 years, working all over the United States. He was hired by the Grand River Dam Authority on December 15, 1970, working the next 22 years before retiring September 30, 1992. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. J.C. accepted the Lord as his Savior in 1989 and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Strang until his health prevented him from attending. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Local #1002 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to Carter Hospice and especially to his nurses, Lisa Cornish and Daphne Pritchett for their care and compassion to our husband, dad and grandfather during his final days. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Strang, Oklahoma with Reverends J.R. Curtsinger and Slade Story officiating. Interment will be in the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery with Matthew Green, Joe Green, Cody Johnson, Greg Borgstrom, Everette Foshee and Darren Reed serving as casketbearers. Honorary Casketbearers are Frank Monahan, Joe Paysinger, Charlie Evans, Dale Willis, Thurman Arnold and Rick Frost. Joseph Charles Johnson is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mildred of the home; two daughters and one son, Kathy and Sam Richardson, Vicki and Dusty Marang, and Jerry and Terri Johnson all of Strang, OK; six grandchildren, Matt and Charlie Green of West Palm Beach, FL, Joe and Kristen Green of Strang, OK, Stacie and Greg Borgstrom of Adair, OK, Amanda and Everette Foshee of Spavinaw, OK, Cody Johnson of Denver, CO, and Amanda Marang of Claremore, OK; eight great grandchildren, Trinity and Randy Green, Hunter Green and Taylor VanGundy, Amy and Rachel Borgstrom, and Brayden and Gage Foshee; two sisters, Peggy Hockman and June and Earl Schilt of Strang, OK; one brother, Billie and Mary Johnson of Gentry, AR; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Joe Johnson; one brother, Wallace Johnson; one sister, Joyce Gilpin and one son-in-law, Randy Green.
