J.R. Camp Jr.

J.R. Camp (Elmer W. Camp, Jr.), 69, of Chouteau, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the St. Francis hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born July 21, 1942 in Wabbaseka, Arkansas, the son of Elmer William and Bertie Elizabeth (Kinley) Camp. Most of his life's work was as an Arkansas State certified police officer; beginning in the 1960's and as an Oklahoma State certified police officer beginning in the early 1980's. He started his own security business and was presently an active reserve for Wagoner Police Department. J.R. enjoyed his work. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and being with his family. He will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2012 in the Shipman's Funeral Home chapel in Pryor with Reverend Thomas M. Landsaw officiating. Interment will be in the Chouteau West Cemetery with Phillip Carey, D. Jay, Shalyn Jay, Mike Hammons, Jamie Powell, and Bo Henson serving as casket bearers. J.R. is survived by his wife, Barbara Camp, of the home; 2 sons, Terry Camp of Vilonia, Arkansas and Keith and wife Lori Camp of Vilonia, Arkansas; 1 Step-son, Steve Willis and wife Sherry of Chouteau, Oklahoma; 2 Step- daughters, Kelli Anderson of Pryor, Oklahoma and Robin Jilge of Cleburne, Texas; 1 brother, Bobby and wife Joann Camp of Centerton, Arkansas; 2 sisters, Carolyn Leonard of Tuckerman, Arkansas and Linda and husband Roy Otto of Bella Vista, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Don and Virgil Camp; 1 baby sister, Betty Ann Camp; 3 nephews, Chris Camp, James Leonard, Jr., and Michael Otto and one brother in law, James Leonard, Sr. Also his father and mother - in-law, Jack and Dorothy Jackson. He leaves behind two very special friends, Phillip Carey and D.Jay of Wagoner.
