J.W. Littlefield

April 24, 1945 — February 2, 2014

J.W. Littlefield, 68, of Salina, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on April 24, 1945; the son of Daniel Franklin Littlefield, Sr. and Irene (Thomas) Littlefield. J.W. attended Salina High School and had a perfect attendance record there. He met the love of his life, Sharon Pritchett, and married on February 23, 1965 in Pryor. He worked as a carpenter most of his life and built homes. He enjoyed being outdoors, wildlife and riding his fourwheeler. He especially loved going to hunting camp and looked forward to his annual Southeast hunting trip with his friends. He was building his cabin for deer camp, which he enjoyed so much. J.W. had a way with his words and enjoyed writing poetry and helping others write speeches for special events. J.W. also had a passion for his Lord and his church. He was a Sunday School Superintendent for Greenbrier Free Will Baptist Church. J.W. loved each member of his Greenbrier church family. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and being surrounded by those who meant the most to him. He enjoyed every minute he could with his grandchildren and spending time with his cousin and best buddy John "Doc" Gage and best friend Dennis Weston. J.W. will be remembered by all the wonderful memories he leaves behind and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2014 in the Salina Gymnasium with Reverend Scott Breeden officiating. Interment will be in the Ross - Mayes Cemetery with Brandon Merritt, Heath Merritt, Jessie Merritt, Scott Merritt, Patrick Weston, and Charlie Taylor serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be John Gage, Gib Merritt, Dennis Weston, and Darren Weston. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2014 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Greenbrier Free Will Baptist Youth in JW's honor. J.W. is survived by his wife Sharon, of the home; 2 sons, John Edward and wife Sheila Littlefield of Salina, Oklahoma and Jarred and wife Delana Littlefield of Salina, Oklahoma; 1 daughter, Bonnie and husband David Rhodes of Salina, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Daniel Franklin, Jr. and wife Mary Ann Littlefield of Little Rock, Arkansas; 2 sisters, Marie and husband Bob Siens of Salina, Oklahoma and Glenda Littlefield of Pryor, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Franklin Littlefield, Sr. and Irene Littlefield, His brother, Don Littlefield, and his sister Betty Pritchett.
