Koy Jack Ackerman, 69, of Pryor, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 in Dodge City, Kansas. He was born on March 20, 1950 in Greeley, Colorado; the son of Harvey J. and Patricia (Bigelow) Ackerman. Koy faithfully served in the United States Marine Corps and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He worked in maintenance most of his life for Immanuel Baptist Church in Tulsa. Koy enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially going fishing. He liked to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and OSU Football teams. He also looked forward to spending time with his family, and enjoying the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Craig Haubein officiating. Koy is survived by his wife, Jodi Ackerman of the home; daughters, Tracy Ackerman of Carthage, Missouri and Amy Davis and husband Lamont of Baxter Springs, Kansas; step son, Larry Sims of Pryor, Oklahoma; brothers, Kris Ackerman of Sherman, Texas and Randy Ackerman of Oklahoma; sister, Kim Borden and husband Doug of Claremore, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Sheniah Clark, Kaelob Hinojoza; Kyle Reed and Taylor Reed; 3 great grandchildren; Dreyson Felix, Kynleigh Reed, and Ava Burnett; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Patricia Ackerman.
