Lea Melton

Jera Lea Melton, 85, of Pryor, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on November 25, 1930 in Claremore, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jeremiah Everetts Foreman and Iva Bell (Fox) Foreman. She graduated from Nuyaka High School in 1949 where she played basketball. Lea met LeRoy Melton in Okmulgee where he was teaching at Oklahoma State Tech later marrying him on December 23, 1949 in Claremore, Oklahoma. They moved to Pryor in 1951 where they started Melton's Air Conditioning. Lea was a member of the Red Hat Society and Business and Professional Women. She was a league bowler for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she sang in the choir. She and LeRoy made many trips as he traveled as Lions Club District Governor. Lea loved her Lord and her family. She leaves behind many wonderful memories for each to cherish. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the First Christian-Presbyterian Church in Pryor, Oklahoma with Pastor Anna Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore, Oklahoma, with Samuel Melton, Zack Martin, Robbie Hormann, Ray Combs, Mike Monett and Drew Stott serving as casket bearers. She is survived by her sons, Roger and wife, Deana Melton of Pryor, OK, Ricky and wife, Cynthia Melton of Tulsa, OK, Randy and wife, Connie Melton of Pryor, OK; grandchildren, Aimee Richards of Pryor, OK, Ashlee and husband, Robbie Hormann of Strang, OK, April and husband, Zack Martin of Broken Arrow, OK, Samuel and wife, Holly Melton of Tulsa, OK; great grandchildren, Carson Richards, Ethan Hormann, Ava Hormann, Christina Melton-Martin, Renee Martin, Anne Martin, Hadlee Sharp and Hayden Richards; brother, Sanford and wife, Juanita Foreman of Park City, KS; sisters, Ella Mae Hancock of Oklahoma City, OK; sister-in-laws, Dessie Foreman and Janie Foreman; dear friend, Betty Miller of Pryor, OK; special friend, Don Lynch of Alva, OK; many nieces, nephews and long time friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeremiah and Iva Bell Foreman; her husband, LeRoy Melton; brothers Harold Foreman, Wayne Foreman and Gene Foreman; sister, Bea Gerleman.
