Lee Bennett Stokes, 71, of Salina, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in Salina, Oklahoma. Lee was born on June 1, 1940 in Salina, Oklahoma, the son of John Stokes and Mary Ann (Houston) Stokes. He married Marylyn Scott on March 24, 1961 in Miami, Oklahoma. Lee worked construction all his life and enjoyed doing it. He also enjoyed hunting, working his cattle and spending time with his grandchildren. Lee was a loving family man who was loved by all who knew him. Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 in the Ross - Mayes Cemetery with Reverend Lorne Beck and Nathan Teed officiating. Lee is survived by his wife, Marylyn of the home; one daughter, Debbie Watkins of Salina, Oklahoma ; one son, Rodney Ople Stokes of Salina, Oklahoma ; his grandchildren, Trelynda Chris Burgess, Tanya, Forrest, Samantha, and Jacklyn; four great grandchildren; Chase Parker and Derek Kingfisher, Holly and Colton Burgess; his sisters, Viola Mae Bronner of Holt, Missouri and Audry Ann Stokes of Salina, Oklahoma; his brother, George Allen Stokes of Salina, Oklahoma; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Ann Stokes; two sisters, Ethel Cauthen and Nora Quinn; two brothers, John Owen Stokes and William Thomas Stokes.
