Lee Wright, 70, of Pryor, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at his home. He was born on February 1, 1952 in Johnson City, New York; the son of William “Fin” Finley and Margaret “Peggy” (Sands) Wright. Lee married Debbie Wheeler on June 23, 1973 in Port Crane, New York and together they have celebrated 48 years of marriage. Lee has lived in the area since February of 1976, coming from Binghamton, New York. Lee worked as a police officer for many years, and then went to work as a self-employed carpenter. He was always proud to make things for his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Pryor Masonic Lodge and a member of the Beekeepers Club. Lee looked forward to spending time outdoors, especially when he was going fishing, kayaking and canoeing. He also enjoyed beekeeping and spending time with his granddaughters, who were the light of his life. Lee leaves behind many memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 10, 2022 in the Exciting Southeast Baptist Church in Pryor with Pastor Rob Pierce officiating. Honorary urn bearers will be David Echols, Kevin DeVault, Mark LeCouter, and Chris Douglas. Lee is survived by his wife, Debbie Wright of the home; daughters, Jolene Echols and husband David of Pryor, Oklahoma and Stephanie DeVault and husband Kevin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Madison and Lindsey DeVault of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sisters, Lawrie Chase of New York, Leslie Hoyt and husband Bill of New York, Heather Wiercihski of New York; Bonnie Nizamis of New York; Wendy Oldham of Georgia; and Stirling Baldwin of New York; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fin and Peggy Wright; niece, Hannah; and great niece, Kaylee.
