Leona Rae Limon

September 1, 1932 — November 21, 2024

Pryor

Leona Rae Limon, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024, in Pryor, Oklahoma. Born in Sallisaw, Oklahoma on September 1, 1932. In a conversation with one of her friends, she stated that Leona was timeless! Her impact on her family is one of grace, strength, and commitment to always keeping family close and making sure they knew they were loved. She was known for hosting parties that were quite legendary. She entertained everyone, even Governors, even cooking him a pig in a pit. As her kids were growing up, she viewed the neighborhood children as her own. One was always the most important person in the room when she was listening to you. Leona lived a life full of purpose and impact, touching countless lives with her kindness, leadership, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. As a proud graduate of Northeastern State University with a degree in education, she found her true calling in caring for others. Together, with her husband Jack Limon, whom she married in Wagoner, Oklahoma, they owned and operated Ross Nursing Homes, Inc., providing compassionate care and a nurturing environment for every resident. Her leadership extended beyond her business as she served as the past president of the Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. She also served as the past president of PEO where she inspired and uplifted her fellow members. Leona was also deeply involved in her community as the Democratic Co-Chair and embodied her passion for civic engagement and making a difference in the lives of others. Leona’s talents and interests were as varied as her accomplishments. She was an avid bridge player. Her warmth, wit, and competitive spirit made her a cherished partner at the card table and in life. Leona’s legacy is one of love, service, and grace.

Leona and Jack loved to travel. They saw the world with much wonder and awe and were always up for a trip or adventure with their group of friends, as long as it could include great food and golf for Jack.

Her family is going to miss her direction, her laugh, and her big smile. Most of all, they will miss her telling them what to do and when to do it.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawna R. Young, of Pryor, OK; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mittie Corley; husband, Jack Limon; son, Franklin Thomas Hagerman, Jr.; daughter, Deborah Hagerman; brothers, Bert and Dale Corley; and son in law, Jay Young.
