Leota Jackson

Leota M. Jackson, 86, of Pryor, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Claremore. She was born on August 9, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; the daughter of Joe Lee and Jewell Nadine (Foster) Bowman. She graduated Oklahoma City High School. Leota married Richard H. Jackson on September 5, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her and her husband moved to Pryor in 1968 and started attending The First Baptist Church. Leota enjoyed living in Pryor and working in her yard and gardening. She retired from JC Penny, after working 23 years as a credit catalogue department. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 12, 2017, in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mike Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Joel Bowling, Matthew Davis, Jeremy Jackson, Christopher Bowling, Robbie Hormann and Scot Earp serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Roger Melton and Richard Jackson Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Leota is survived by her son, Richard (Rick) Homer Jackson Jr. and Judy of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughters, Donna Bowling and husband Joel of Pryor, Oklahoma, Deana Melton and husband Roger of Pryor, Oklahoma, Gloria Davis and husband Tim of Salina, Oklahoma; sisters, Shirley Jo Shelton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe Lee and Jewell Nadine Bowman; husband, Richard H. Jackson Sr.; brother in law, Bill Shelton; sister Mary England. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Baptist Children's Home; Owasso, Oklahoma or First Baptist Church in Pryor, Oklahoma.
