Leroy Blevins

May 10, 1937 — May 26, 2014

LeRoy Dawson Blevins, 77, of Broken Arrow, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on May 10, 1937 in Grove, Oklahoma; the son of Jack and Victory (Riggs) Blevins. From the moment LeRoy and Bonnie started their family, he was always a hard worker and steady provider. He never had a lot of money but the great love he had for his family far outweighed any amount of money that could be earned. LeRoy and Bonnie raised 5 wonderful children but many of his nephews and nieces thought of him as their father figure. Over the years, anyone who was falling on hard times, could be assured LeRoy would open his heart & home until you could get on your feet. He believed in taking care of his own, in modesty, respect, hard work and most of all loving and obeying God. Leroy loved ALL his children and grand children, parents and siblings. He loved all his family by blood or by marriage. Although a man of few words, his actions showed his love. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do to help each of them. In the autumn years of his life, he loved to sit on the front porch and watch the hummingbirds, falcons and other animals. LeRoy loved to garden and family and friends always reaped the harvest. At any given time you could come to his house and he would either be sitting on the front porch, lawn mower or in the living room in his 'special' chair. For visitors, food or coffee was always offered. He made the best salsa and hot peppers, this side of heaven. He would drive his Miss Bonnie to the Goodwill so she could get her daily dose of thrift shopping. Oh how he loved his Bonnie. She could aggravate the fire out of him, but mostly he would grin or laugh from her antics or the way she says or pronounces things. Most of all Leroy loved talking about the Bible and Jesus. One can't tell how many times he talked about being faithful to God, and would testify how he was so very happy to have found Jesus. He would say, "If you'll get serious with God and get a good dose of salvation, that's all you'll ever need.' He lived by what he believed. You could count on your fingers and toes the amount of church services he missed. He loved going to church., didn't matter how tired, or bad he felt. LeRoy's legacy, faithful to God, faithful to his family, and consistent, Leroy in one word. Consistent.
