Lola Flint

Lola Beatrice Flint, 94, of Pryor, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 in Pryor. She was born on December 3, 1923 in Porter, Oklahoma; the daughter of James William and Robbie (Cluck) Higgs. Lola grew up and attended school in Muskogee, graduating from Muskogee High School in 1943. After High School, she moved to Pryor, where she started to work for her uncle, Jess Higgs, who owned and operated Higgs Café. She and Jack "Peno" Flint were married on September 11, 1948 in Pryor. They moved southwest of town where Peno was employed on the Watkins Dairy. In 1960, they moved back to Pryor and Lola worked in several restaurants around Pryor, before going to the Elk's Lodge where she worked in housekeeping until her retirement in 1987. She was a charter member of Cross Road Baptist Church in Pryor, where she was a very faithful and active member, serving as Sunday School teacher in Adult Ministries, as well as younger children's classes. She was also active in the Women's Missionary Organizations and was a member of the choir as long as she was physically able. A very loving person, she always put her family and friends needs before her own.

Lola is survived by her son, Alfred Flint and wife Mary of Carnegie, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren; Johnathon Flint and Laura Smith of Arizona; 2 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack "Peno" Flint; daughter, Lucy Polan; parents, James and Robbie Higgs; 3 brothers, Bill, Gerald, and Lloyd Higgs; sisters, Coralee Mason; and special friend, Henrietta Miller.
